One of our tour representatives will meet you at your hotel in Cairo or Giza and then you will head to Birqash which is relatively small town north of Cairo. Birqash is famous for its camel market which attracts traders from all over Egypt.
When people in Egypt want to buy or sell camels, they visit the Birqash Camel Market regardless of their social or financial status. With so many camels present, the smell can be a bit much for some visitors, but it is all part of the experience.
Visitors should also know that many of the camels being auctioned off are being sold for slaughter. After all, camel meat is widely consumed in Egypt. Nothing you see at the market is done for the benefit of tourists. Instead, you get to witness a part of Egyptian cultures that has remained unchanged for thousands of years.
