8-Day Tour of Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel

DAY 1 – Arrive in Cairo, Transfer to Hotel and Free Time

When you arrive for your Cairo to Abu Simbel tour, you are met by one of tour representatives.  He or she will assist in every way possible, and then accompany you to your hotel in one of our deluxe air-conditioned vehicles.

When you get to your hotel you will be checked-in and then our tour representative will review you itinerary with you and also confirm a pick up time for the following day’s tour. Once this has been taken care of, you are then left to enjoy the rest of the day as you wish.

DAY 2 – Giza Pyramids, Egyptian Museum, Khan el Khalili and Train to Luxor

At the confirmed time, your guide will meet you at your hotel and assist you with check-out. Once you have checked out, you will be driven to Giza to see the famous Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx. When your tour at the pyramids ends, you are then taken to a good local restaurant for some lunch.

After lunch, you are taken to Islamic Cairo to spend some time at the centuries-old Khan el Khalili Bazaar. This is a great opportunity to watch ordinary Egyptian going about their daily lives, and also a great opportunity to do some shopping.

A bit later in the day you will head back to Giza, this time to the Giza Railway Station where you will board an overnight sleeper train to Luxor. Have dinner in your compartment aboard the train and enjoy a good night’s sleep as you make your way to Luxor.

DAY 3 – Full Day of Sightseeing in Luxor

When you arrive at the station in Luxor, your guide and one of our drivers will be waiting for you. It will be too early to check in at your hotel, so instead, we get you checked in later in the day, after your tour. Your first stop today will be at the Valley of Kings which is home to more than 60 ancient tombs, including the tomb of pharaoh VI and the boy king, Tutankhamun.

Next you visit Queen Hatshepsut’s mortuary temple which is now considered to be one of the Incomparable Ancient Egyptian Monument. You will also make a brief stop at the huge Colossi of Memnon before breaking for lunch.

After lunch, you visit the massive Karnak Temple complex and also Luxor Temple, both of which are located on the east bank of the Nile River.

With your Luxor sightseeing now over, you will be transferred to the hotel where you will be staying for this night of your Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel tour.

DAY 4 – Transfer to Aswan and Aswan Sightseeing

After breakfast, you will be met at your hotel and you will be assisted with check-out. You will then be taken to board a comfortable and modern air-conditioned vehicle with Wi-Fi for your road trip to Aswan. The journey usually takes about three and a half hours.

When you arrive in Aswan, your guide and driver will be there to meet you, and take you to check-in at the hotel where you will be staying for this night of your Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel trip.

After lunch, you are taken to see the famous Aswan High Dam, and from there you head to the ancient granite quarries to see the gigantic Unfinished Obelisk. The granite that was used inside the Giza Pyramids all came from these quarries.

Next, you visit the remarkably well-preserved Temple of Philae that was once dedicated to two goddesses, Isis and Hathor. Following your visit to the temple, you will then board a small Felucca for a leisurely sail around Elephantine Island. Finally, you will be returned to your hotel and you will have the rest of the day for yourself.

DAY 5 – Group Tour to Abu Simbel and Train Back to Cairo

Today you will check-out early from your hotel because you will be departing for Abu Simbel at 04h30. You will be issued with a breakfast box which you can enjoy along the way. The drive from Aswan to Abu Simbel takes about three and a half hours, but it is definitely worth it.

The two massive rock-hewn temples were constructed for Ramses II and his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari. The site is without question one of the most breathtaking archaeological sites ever discovered.

After you tour at the temple, you then head back to Aswan where you will then be boarding an overnight sleeper train back to Cairo. Enjoy dinner in your compartment and a good night’s sleep as the train snakes its way back to the Egyptian capital.

DAY 6 – Free Day in Cairo with Optional Saqqara Tour

Enjoy breakfast on the train shortly before it arrives in Cairo. When it arrives, you will again be met and then you will be driven to the hotel where you will be staying for the last to nights of your Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel trip.

There are no tours scheduled for today but you can opt for an optional tour to Saqqara to see the famous Step Pyramid of Pharaoh Djozer. This was the first pyramid ever built by the Ancient Egyptians.

DAY 7 – Optional Day Tour to Alexandria

There are no scheduled tours today. Instead, you can spend the day as you wish, or you can opt for an optional private guided tour to Alexandria. If you do opt for this tour, there are a number of interesting sites in Alexandria which you will be taken to see. These include the stunning new Library of Alexandria, some ancient catacombs, an ancient rock-hewn Roman cemetery and a formidable citadel.

DAY 8 – Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel Tour Ends / Final Departure

Your Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel adventure has now come to an end, so at the appropriate time, you will be met at your hotel by your tour manager and a driver. You will then be assisted with check-out, and then you will be driven to the airport in time for you to board your flight out of Egypt.
