7-Day Tour from Cairo to Petra

DAY 1 – Arrive in Egypt for your Tour from Cairo to Petra

When you arrive in Egypt for your Tour from Cairo to Petra your tour manager will meet you at the airport. You will be transferred to your hotel in one of our deluxe air-conditioned vehicles. Your tour manager will assist you with check-in. He or she will also discuss your itinerary with you and confirm a meeting time for the following day’s tour. There are no tours scheduled for today so you will have the rest of your first day in Cairo to yourself.

DAY 2 – Giza and Saqqara Pyramids Tour

Today your guide and a driver will meet you at your hotel and then you will drive to the Giza necropolis to see the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. Your visit to the site also includes visiting the Valley Temple. While you are at the site, you will also be able to visit the Solar Boat Museum. This is optional and it it not included in the price of our Cairo Petra Tours. Tickets for the museum are available at the site.

After spending most of the morning at the pyramids, you will then be taken to a nice local restaurant for some lunch. Once you have finished eating, your guide and driver will take you to visit another ancient burial at Saqqara. The Saqqara necropolis is home to the Djoser Step Pyramid which is the oldest pyramid ever discovered in Egypt. It is also thought to be the very first pyramid built by the Ancient Egyptians.

When you are finished at the Saqqara necropolis, your guide and driver will then take you back to your hotel in Cairo.

DAY 3 – Egyptian Museum and Cairo City Tour

After breakfast, your guide and driver will again meet you at your hotel and then you will be taken to the Egyptian Museum. This museum has the world’s largest collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts. There is also an entire area dedicated to those artifacts that were found in King Tutankhamen’s tomb. Most of the morning will be spent at the museum, and then you will visit a good local restaurant for some lunch.

After lunch, you will visit Coptic Cairo to see the Hanging Church of Cairo and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Your last stop for the day will be at the famous Khan El Khalili Bazaar which is located in Islamic Cairo. This bazaar has been around since 1382 and it is always a huge hit for tourists. Once you are finished at the bazaar, you will then be dropped off back at your hotel.

DAY 4 – Transfer from Cairo to Amman in Jordan

At the confirmed time, your tour manager will meet you at your hotel and you will check-out. You will then be transferred to Cairo International Airport in time for you to board your flight to Amman in Jordan. Another one of our tour representatives will meet you at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman. Once you clear immigration you will then be transferred to your hotel and you will have the rest of the day to yourself.

DAY 5 – Madaba and Dead Sea Leisure Time

After breakfast your driver and an English-speaking assistant will fetch you from your hotel. You will then be taken to Mount Nebo where Moses was shown the Promised Land. You will also visit an old monastery and then you will be driven to town of Madaba. When you reach Madaba you will head straight for the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George to see a 6th-century stone mosaic map of Palestine.

Once you are finished at the church at Madaba, your next stop will be at the Dead Sea where you will stay for most of the afternoon. You have probably heard how easy it is to float on the Dead Sea? This will be a great opportunity for you to experience it for yourself. Later in the afternoon, or whenever you are ready, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Amman.

DAY 6 – Rose Red City of Petra Tour

Today will be one of the top highlights of your Cairo Petra Tour. After breakfast, you will leave your hotel and you will drive to Petra to see the ancient Lost City of Petra. This is Jordan’s biggest and most famous tourist attraction. It is also one of the most striking ancient attractions in the whole world.

During the 6th-century BC, nomadic Nabatean Arabs decided to settle down and created a city for themselves. They did this by carving their city out of the walls of a long and deep rock gorge. When you reach the site, you will meet up with an English-speaking local guide who will take you for a guided tour of the area.

There is a 700-meter walk from the visitor center to the canyon entrance which is call the Siq. The canyon itself is a further 1,200 meters long. It is recommended that you wear comfortable walking shoes for this tour. During your tour, you will to see the city’s most impressive features, such as the Street of Facades; the Royal Tombs; the Pharaoh’s Castle and the Treasury.

Tours typically last from 2 to 3 hours. After your tour, you will return to the visitor center and your driver will drive you back to your hotel in Amman.

DAY 7 – Cairo Petra Tour Ends / Final Departure

At the confirmed time, our tour representative will meet you at you hotel and he will assist you with check-out. Once you have checked out, you will then be driven to Queen Alia International Airport in time for you to catch your flight out of Jordan.
